East Granby 150
This small Connecticut town was planning a huge party and they asked us to help spread the word. Donald Sedor, Chairman of the East Granby 150th Planning Committee, contacted us to create a budget-conscious promotional strategy.
For the web; we created a simple, media rich site which enabled attendees to experience the charming imagery of Old East Granby while quickly finding relevant information such as event times and locations. We partnered with a photographer to get beautiful shots of key historic landmarks which we used as the foundation for the layout. East Granby was founded as “Turkey Hills” so the Planning Committee saw a great opportunity and soon giant painted turkeys invaded the town. Each turkey statue was sponsored by a local business, painted by a local artist and placed around East Granby leading up to the event. We created a fun online gallery for these painted turkeys and - after the event - posted a map for those who wanted to follow the turkey trail!
In addition to a web-presence, the committee decided to do a number of mailings. First, we created a postcard that was sent to local businesses to inform them of the upcoming celebration and direct them the website for ways they could get involved. Later, we sent a second card to all town-residents to remind them of the upcoming festivities, to create excitement and to refer them to the website as the central source of information. This allowed us to keep the content on the card concise and to use large, bold attention grabbing design elements.
The event was an enormous success: quite literally as it was the most attended event in the town history!
